Mission Statement

To preserve historical information for dissemination to the public, to help individuals who wish to preserve historic structures, and to present programs and exhibits of historic value to the public.

In 2019 Preservation Virginia recognized the Society’s publication “The Architectural History of Halifax County, Virginia” as a valuable resource that recorded Halifax County’s history via architecture from 1752 through 1945. The book received the following award in 2020:

Outstanding Historic Preservation Research Effort: The George W.G. Stoner and Melville Jennings Research and Education Award

This Preservation Virginia award recognizes any individual or entity that has made a significant contribution to the cause of historic preservation or archaeology in Virginia through research, interpretation or education.
