Crossing of the Dan
The Crossing of the Dan, commemorated annually in February, celebrates Nathanael Greene's strategy to exhaust the British army with a lengthy pursuit (during which, the British were forced to burn their supply wagons and dump soldiers’ rum rations). This brilliant military maneuver is nationally recognized as an important turning point of the Revolutionary War.
