Cotton Mills Tower Memorial Bricks
The Society recently announced that their annual ornament was the historic Cotton Mills Tower. They almost sold out in 1 day and if you have not purchased your ornament by now, they are essentially gone. No more will be produced. But you have not lost your chance to remember the iconic landmark. The Historical Society is committed to replace the dilapidated chain-link fence surrounding the tower by selling memorial bricks. If your family worked at the mill, if you enjoyed the wonderful damask fabrics made into tablecloths and napkins or you just want to remember a family member with a memorial brick, this is your opportunity. The cost of each brick is $100.00. Each brick will be laser etched with up to 3 lines with 20 spaces on each line. Approximately 200 bricks are available. When all are sold, construction of the walkway and installation of the new fence will begin.
The Historical Society has made it even easier to purchase a brick! Forms for ordering a brick are currently available at North Main Furniture (Electric Service), the South Boston-Halifax County Visitor Center, Peddler’s Market, and at the various festivals where the Society has a booth. Now, you can now obtain the form on-line. Forms are available at polarengraving.com/HalifaxCountyHistoricalSociety or halifaxcountyhistoricalsociety.org/cotton-mill. Both sites have the forms needed for completion. These forms can be printed for ease in completion and simply mailed into the Society along with a check for the cost of each brick. And as always, you can contact Barbara Bass, President, at 434-753-2137 or email@example.com, and may request one to be sent to you.
