County Historical Society Announces New Publication
The Halifax County Historical Society has a new publication, Berry Hill Plantation and the Bruce Family. Chapter contents include: History of Berry Hill, the Bruce Family, Berry Hill Cemetery, Additional Bruce Properties, Plantation Slaves and Free Blacks, Richard Cecil Rogers, Photographs from the Past and Berry Hill Today. Several Society members gave their time to have this significant work available, which shares another part of the local history with the community. Research was completed by member Faye Royster Tuck, compilation by Barbara Bass and Peggy Hammond, and photography by Andrew Bohanon.
The book cost is $15.00 (plus $4.00 shipping if ordered from the website) and contains 34 pages, 8.5 X 11 inches and includes portraits and photographs, most of which are in color.
The book is available at Halifax County Visitor Center in South Boston and Peddler’s Market in Halifax, or by visiting the Society’s website www.halifaxcountyhistoricalsociety.org.
